Pink Slip Inspection

Every lightweight vehicle that is more than 5 years old requires a pink slip inspection. This safety inspection report confirms your car is roadworthy. It highlights that it meets safety standards set by the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).

Vehicles that fail this inspection cannot proceed with the registration process until repairs are made. After repairs, you need to get your car re-inspected within 14 days. Failing to do so, the vehicle needs to undergo a full inspection.

Blue Slip

This safety check is for unregistered vehicles, which confirms they’re safe to drive. All light, unregistered cars need to undergo blue slip inspections to meet NSW safety, design, and identity standards. The report generated is valid for 42 days. There are certain cases wherein a blue slip is required, including:

• Vehicles that need to be registered whose rego has expired for more than three months
• Registered vehicles that do not require number plates
